30 January, 1969 - The Beatles Play Their Legendary Rooftop Gig
After plenty of deliberation about where they should perform the gig that would be the climax of their Let It Be film shoot and album recording - 'The pyramids?' 'The QE2?' - the band decide to do something different altogether - they would perform on the rooftop of their Savile Row, London headquarters, to whoever might be passing by at the time.
"We went on the roof in order to resolve the live concert idea, because it was much simpler than going anywhere else; also nobody had ever done that, so it would be interesting to see what happened when we started playing up there. It was a nice little social study." - George

As it so happened, they ended up performing to a few policemen, too.
